Plus with cruise ports now expanding on the east coast of the Yucatan to Costa maya, and Puerto morelos, having more airport capacity in differnt locations will be well placed. The Yucatan has always been thought of by North American tourists as the beaches of Cancun and Riviera Maya. With new airports and the ability to home base cruise ships in the future including potential for overnight super ferry vessels to bring tourists to stay in the region, Yucatan will become a much more desirable location to holiday as you will now, with the train be able to easily get to all the inland archeological sites that have been hard to get to. The entire tirusin infrastructure will crisper as more tourism comes to more parts of the Yucatan. I must say, as a long time tourism product developer that the vision of the Mexican government in spending the time and resources on making the Yucatan a complete destination from Campeche to Merida, to Cancun to Tulum is one of the best concerts I have ever seen in the Caribbean, and latin America.

Xcalak has power outages at least a couple of times a week. No police or health clinic. The jungle has encroached to a lane and a half. And the education system sucks. Mayan Tren and the Tulum airport? How about showing us some love? I have to believe some politician here must have pissed off the state or federal government years ago.

Roads and infrastructure. Leave your Mercedes and Harley in California! I’m not saying that is good or bad but rather is what it is. I love Guadalajara and area. Wonderful place to have a home.

Perhaps you can influence the sad state of affairs called Tulum. What an infrastructure mess for 20 years now. Will developers and government ever get anything together and finish even a single project……

I’m no fan of this kind of so called progress in San Miguel. The real progress is the towns unique character that’s been magically preserved. Who needs this kind of progress? Today Cancún is Miami Beach and lost its character. The kind of character that makes SMA so special.
As far as Mexico being far behind other world powers, when was the last time you saw new railways connecting new thoughtfully designed airports that sought to value wildlife and integrated the aesthetics of the natural environment with cutting edge design. Been to LaGuardia lately?
As far as the author of the article, I’ve read his background
.He and his wife achieved the kind of financial success most of us can only dream of. They appear to have ditched the easy life for the love of this country and challenge of sharing their passion with others. One final note. Beware of corrupt officials? Are you kidding me? You think this is unique to Mexico?!

Can’t believe you compare this country’s engineers to the US counterparts.
Mexico is a great country but far behind world powers in every aspect.
I assume you didn’t finish (or attended) any higher education system and was not up to par for a US relevant working position.
Enjoy your new lifestyle and beware of corrupt government officials. You’ll soon see.

And very impressive! I think their engineers should teach the Americans at LAX ITL. Airport LA CA E.U.
who have been merely remodeling the Interntl Terminal for over 2 1/2 years and its still an unfinished, confusing, ever changing , disorganized mess. Its just pathetic. Whereas Mexico built both Felipe Ángeles and Tulum from the ground up in just 18 mos. People need to wake and realize MX is no longer a 3rd world country but a Major Player, a manufacturing and economic threat and a force to be reckoned with. Proud to be a permanent resident on my way to citizenship. Viva Mexico 🇲🇽
