Neither has been capable of fulfilling energy demands and if Mexico does not do something about it soon , they are going to really screw up a great opportunity as near shoring is such a great opportunity for the country. International companies are going to want to see big strides in attacking this or are going to look elsewhere. Nationalizing utilities never works as they are very inefficient and corrupt. This is not the time to wave the flag, but to come up with a viable plan to build the infrastructure to not just take care of the country’s needs but address the future business opportunities.

They now can compete openly with wind; they are far more efficient than almost any fossil fuel option. Chinese EV manufacturers are coming fast, and their machines will be cheaper than gas cars. The trend is unmistakable.

So all Sheinbaum has to do is face reality. Given her scientific background, that should be no challenge. The only challenge will be to manage the energy czars at Pemex and CFE, who will cloak their ambitions in Mexicana flags. Let’s see.

The cost to the populous is astounding and shows that some things never change in Mexico.

Violation of the Mexican Consititional changes regarding international oil investments. Poor renewal energy policy and production. High gasolince prices. Corrupt Premex. Electricity brown outs frequently. What more can should be said?
