As a gay gringo living in mexico for around 15 years, I say promoting your business in the comunity is good. I personally do not feel part of the community, and think that good service, having what customers want, and promoting your product well are the key to good business. I do see the apeal to promote in the community as it provides another demographic or a bigger demographic for a product.

They should thrive based on the service and value they provide, regardless if they are Gay, Black, Asian, White, Latino, etc. If a business provides what others are willing to pay for, no one cares what or who they are. I am not gay, but I respect any entrepreneur that has the drive to create something of value to themselves and others. Do I care if a business is owned by someone that is Gay? No! What I care about is do they provide an enjoyable experience and value for my money. I feel the negative vibe some get is that when someone try’s to promote themselves as something different or worse, something special. It does not work in business. Plain and simple. Redneck, Gay, Black lives matter, etc. Business has no place for “Look at me”
