I’ve always said that if you want to add chopped tomato, do it when you serve it, after putting aside what won’t be eaten immediately, not when you make it.

I agree with Glen; lime juice is mandatory. And that also helps keep it longer and with much less discoloration.

The guacamole in Jalisco is prepared without ajo, which allows the flavour of the cilantro to mix with the softness of the avocado. When preparing an avocado dip, we use the garlic. Buen provecho!
